"Szegedi" paprika powder
Rubin Ltd has taken over the Szegedi Paprika Consortium's leadership in 2008, to procure the paprika powder of Szeged's EU protection, the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). As a result of that hard work, the paprika of Szeged obtained the geographical protected designation in October, 2010
The EU legistlation support the community's traditional agricultural products and groceries, against to the poor quality food-stuffs. The Council Regulation (EC) No 510/2006 states, that the production, manufacture and distribution of agricultural products and foodstuffs play an important role in the Community economy.
The usage of appropriete EU symbols on the labels are guarantee, that the marked product is processed and prepared in a given geographical area, using the specified know-how.
In the case of agricultural products and food-stuffs, we can differentiate the folowing EU protected categories:
- PDO- Protected Designation of Origin, indicates all the products, which grew, produced, and prosessed in the allotted area.
- PGI-Protected Gaographical Indication, includes the products, whose only a few parts of processing methods are performed in the given area.
- TSG Traditional Speciality Guaranted, signify the traditionalist character of the product, concern to the content, or the preparation.
